Pre-press goes Green!

Green might already be our corporate colour but a newer shade has definitely landed in our pre-press department.

Over the last 2 months the upgrade of our pre-press systems has resulted in an ecological makeover. From the efficiency of the servers driving our pre-press work flow to the carbon footprint of the plate imaging machines.

After a long and careful process we took the decision to migrate towards a predominately Agfa based workflow system. The first stage was the installation of our new Fully Automatic Avalon platesetter, which gave us increased plate capacity. The Avalon platesetter provided us with opportunity to use the Agfa Azura chemistry free plate. This Reduced the need to handle excessive chemistry and making the waste chemistry almost non-existent.  This has also lead to a cleaner working environment and improved conditions for the personnel involved.

The second stage of the installation commences on Monday 14th April, which will see the last of our older platesetters replaced and the supporting software infrastructure upgraded.

In doing our research we asked critical questions about our environmental responsibility. We found that by migrating to the Avalon platesetter our Carbon Footprint reduced by between 50% and 63%.

As with all technology, the benefits of efficiency and change, bring about that which will benefit, us, you and the environment. Being green is our corporate responsibility.
